Cintia Martins Freitas (she/her) is a first-year PhD student in Global Urban Studies. She is originally from Guaiba, a town in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, Brazil. Her research interests are climate justice and multilevel governance. Before joining Rutgers-Newark, Cintia studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she pursued a joint master’s degree in Latin American and Caribbean Studies as well as Urban and Regional Planning, with minors in Global Studies and Gender Relations in International Development. Her research interests include: climate justice, multilevel governance, and feminist approaches to climate change governance.
